Kanile’a T-45 w The Tree Quilted Mahogany
This is one the 100 nicest Ukuleles ever made. Probably top 25. If you know about “The Tree” then you might agree. Google it if you haven’t. Stew Mac and the Smithsonian have articles about this wood. The back and sides are from a 500 year old Honduran mahogany tree. It was felled over 50 years ago. The quilting, figuring and especially sound of this tree are one of a kind. The wood has been sought out for decades. No one knows how many specimens for new builds will even be offered for sale in the future.Magically, Worldpeace Guitars happened to get their hands on some of this very special wood. Thinking about our roots music origins, we had a custom “D-45 Ukulele“ model built…or should we say T-45 since it’s a Tenor size, after all.
The maker is Kanilea Ukes. One of the best Ukulele makers in the world. The top is made of the finest reserve-stock port orford cedar. The bridge and fingerboard of stark ebony. Crafted with a side hole for better acoustics, this Ukulele features pearloid binding, pao purfling, D45 style fretboard inlays… this has some of the nicest appointments, and Uke sounds, frankly, ever.
