66 that has probably under 100 hours of playtime thing is virtually new has a really nice mid range…LOUD Boxy tone for old school sounds!

I LOVE the 66 sandblasting. More info from resohangout:“There were 4 or more different patterns and this type of stencil was used both pre-war and post war. The first was the Skull's Head pattern used from 1929 to 1934. It was based on a victorian design provided by John Dopyera's wife. The concept was a big hit for model 65-  66 which retailed for $66.00 This model was used in newspaper ads picturing the wood body Dobro in 1931 Los Angeles papers. In 1934 the pattern changed slightly and the "Skulls Head" at lower rear center was replaced by letter "D".  After little or no production from 1946 to the 1960's the same 1934 pattern (had been stored all those years) re-emerged in the Dobros of the Gardenia (Cal.) production period and later in the O.M.I. period of the 1960's and 1970's.

For most of the 67 years the "Carved model 66" was done in a typical sunburst with reds and yellows,  however around 1934 there was some variations in shading ( using the same stencil) with the high relief done in black and the low relief done in a dark grayish green.  In the post war and O.M.I. versions the sandblasting is done on the top and backside only.

The sandblast has no impact on the tonal sound---it is basically a model 60 body with extra ornamentation but the idea has appealed for 67 years now.”
